SBF Spotlight:Angela Avilez


This week in our "Smarter. Bolder. Faster. Agent Spotlight" series we're talking with Angela Avilez, REALTOR® and Branch Leader at our UC/La Jolla office. Angela is also the 2014 Local Chaper President of NAHREP® and was recently named to the NAHREP® Top 250. Angela recently raised the bar for hosting open houses by hiring a food truck and hosting a Neighbor VIP Hour.

AWARD: Where did the idea for a Food Truck Open House and Neighbor VIP Hour come from?
AA: The food truck idea actually came from my husband and business partner, David Cardenas, and our lender Aaron Gordon of Guild Mortgage. We always host VIP hours exclusively for neighbors at our open houses and we try to be different in our approach to show potential sellers how we set ourselves apart from our competition. Food is always a plus and since food trucks have been so successful around town lately it was a perfect fit!

AWARD: It’s definitely not your typical open house. How was the reception?
AA: The reception was great! We actually canvassed the neighborhood with 300 invites the day before. The neighbors were curious about the home and liked the idea of free food. Also, the agents that came by with their buyers during the scheduled open house loved it too.

AWARD: Tell us more about the Neighbor VIP part. Did you provide food for the neighbors, value pieces, etc?
AA: The neighbor VIP party is an opportunity for the locals to come take a look at the latest listing, talk about selling prices in the zip code and get to know them more personally. Value pieces include collateral on past sales, info about buyer need in the area and lender info too.

AWARD: What kind of returns did you get from the event?
AA: From this event we had 4 solid listing leads and 2 buyer leads come from it. We also impressed the seller and she invited her brother who is also considering selling. He enjoyed the food and atmosphere and said we went a step above the rest to ensure a great turnout.

AWARD: What’s your best Smarter. Bolder. Faster. tip for your fellow Award agents?
AA: Plan out your schedule, know your market and keep consistent and true to your business. Nothing in this business comes easy but why not have some fun while you are doing it.
